“Close your eyes and imagine the best version of you possible. That’s who you really are, let go of any part of you that doesn’t believe it.”
C. Assaad

“Karma is an action, not a result. The future is not set in stone. You can change the course of your life right now by changing your volitional (intentional) acts and self-destructive patterns.” – Buddhist Master
Had you asked what I thought Karma was prior to reading this article, I probably would have said, “if I do good, good things will come, if I do bad, bad things will come.” Fortunately that’s not what karma is. We’re able to control our own karma by living with intention.
That’s one feature that I enjoy about APFL, “Today’s Intentions”. Logging intentions daily increases my awareness to my actions and thoughts, which ultimately affects how I live my life. I’ve stopped living with the expectation that if I do good, good things will come and have started living with intention in order to grow into the person I want to be.
Likewise, after making a poor decision, it’s easy to get caught up on the past and think all future bad outcomes are just bad karma. In reality you have the power to change the direction of your life by living with intention.
“Surrender is the simple but profound wisdom of yielding to rather than opposing the flow of life.” – Eckhart
Sometimes surrendering is easier said than done. For instance, I don’t like the fact that this newsletter is getting sent right at the last moment, but rather than resisting, which only hurts myself, I’ve decided to accept it. It’s part of life. Now I’m not saying you should call it karma and move on, of course not. Luckily the future is not set in stone, intentional acts can change the course of the future.
It is important to surrender to the flow of what’s happening. After accepting the moment, respond to the situation from a place of nonresistance.
Accept the moments life throws at you, remember nothing is set in stone, and at the end of the day, surrender.
Feeling overwhelmed? Braden Thompson goes over 8 things to remember.
You’ve felt this way before, so accept it. Of course you don’t like it, but you survived last time, you’ll survive again. Can you repeat what you did last time you felt overwhelmed?Try and identify if this feeling is being caused by a self-destructive pattern, if it is, take action to stop this from happening in the future. Your previous experiences will tell you a story, it’s your job to learn from them and take intentional action.Doing nothing will make you worry more, leading to overthinking, leading to more inaction, to more feelings over being overwhelmed.Do something. Act. The answers will come.
